An interview with Kwadwo, about life, raising kids, starting his company Elementary Chinese, and socio-cultural observations from his 12 years in China.

BIO of QUAYJO

Kwadwo [QUĀY.jo] Sampany-Kessy is a guy who loves to live overseas probably because it’s in his blood. Kwadwo is a son of an immigrant from Ghana, who is a member of the Ashanti Tribe, and he was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. Kwadwo realized that he was bitten by the travel bug when his counselor at the University of Washington convinced him to go abroad. From there, he worked in Paris then made his way to Xiamen and then to where he is now, an expat in Tianjin, China. Currently Kwadwo is running his business, Elementary Chinese, which teaches other foreigners the necessary Mandarin language skills to get around China.
